Biohazard Clean-up, 2-day course
The above course is appropriate for personnel who work with, or come across possibly biohazard hazardous materials in the course of their duties. Course content touches on the various Canadian legislation and regulations (Federal and Provincial) governing hazardous materials, identification of HazMat, personal protection equipment and appropriate spill & clean-up response procedures – both theory and practical.
Examples may include:
• Medical & Lab facilities
• Accommodations -Hotels, B&B, Shelters• Storage areas• Store or building fronts
• Parkades & parking lots
Biohazards must be properly decontaminated, cleaned, and removed to
eliminate risk and ensure the safety of staff, customers and visitors. Understanding
and learning risk assessment, biohazard theory, and practical training, will prevent these risks.
Skills to be acquired:
• Recognizing and assessing hazards
• Strategies for removing and controlling hazards
• Operations within a team structure
• Properly using Personal Protective Equipment
• Packaging and labeling spill cleanup material
After completing this course, the attendees will able to understand the risks of biohazards and how they may cause injury or illness,
identify the relevant legislation, standards or guidelines related to biohazards and prepare an Action Plan to identify, assess and control the hazard based on an actual situation. Participants are encouraged to share their own experiences. Includes a practical portion to demonstrate how to properly respond.
