Respirator Fit Testing
Do your employees require annual respirator fit testing? Contact us today to set up an appointment!
Any person who is required to wear a respirator during the course of their normal work day duties, or any person who is required to wear a respirator for emergency response activities should be fit tested to ensure an effective seal.
BCHAZMAT conducts respirator fit testing and the testing can be conducted at our location in Sidney, BC or at your location if need be.
Workers can be exposed to a variety of chemicals and hazardous materials in the workplace. Employers are required to protect their workers by developing and implementing effective control measures. Respiratory protection can be used to minimize or prevent a worker’s overexposure to airborne chemicals and hazardous materials.
However, for respiratory protection to be effective it must be properly selected, sized and fit tested for each individual worker and workers need training in the limitations and correct use of the respirator they are provided. Respirators must be properly maintained and must be able to form an effective seal with the wearer’s face.
The following topics are covered during our fit testing services: proper donning and doffing of the respirator; performing seal checks; care, use and maintenance of the respirator and defining the differences between N-Series, R-Series, and P-Series respirators as well as half and full face respirators.
All participants who successfully complete the fit test are provided with a wallet card indicating the respirator fitted and its size. The employer will receive a “record of training” in the form of a fit test report they can keep on file.
